Myrtle Beach Write-A-Palooza!
This afternoon, I am heading to Myrtle Beach with my little family! It will be our first trip away with the baby, and I’m both nervous and excited. The reasons for our last minute get-away were three-fold.
- I want to celebrate signing my graphic novel contract with Sea Lion Books!!
- I am going to hit 100,000 all-time sales any day now. It would be fun to do that at the beach.
- Most importantly, the beach always inspires me to write. With the deadline for DEMONS FOREVER coming up soon, I wanted to have a really productive weekend.
Because of all of these things, I’ve decided it’s time for another WRITE-A-PALOOZA weekend!!! If you’ve followed my blog for a while, you know this is usually a weekend of intense writing sessions where I concentrate on having fun writing and rewarding myself when it’s all over. It’s a great motivational tool for me, and I think I’m overdue for one! We leave this afternoon (drive will probably take about 4 hours since we’ll have to stop more often with a baby in the car) and come back on Sunday afternoon. Between those times, I have set a goal to write 10,000 new words.
The other day while we were out walking, I had a revelation. It was as if something in the story just came to me. Something I hadn’t realized up until that very moment. It’s a game-changer for Peachville and for all the demon gates, really. This weekend, I’m going to write this new element into the book, and I’m so excited about it!!! I feel like this was a missing puzzle piece in the book and now it’s really coming together in an unexpected way.
So here are the terms of my Myrtle Beach WRITE-A-PALOOZA 2012.
- Write 10,000 new words in DEMONS FOREVER.
- If my goal is reached, then next week I will give away another free advanced ebook copy of DEMONS FOREVER!!
- Also, if I reach my 10,000 word goal, I get to reward myself by a trip to the Sanrio store next week. As a new Mom, I’ve been concentrating so much on my sweet little boy that I’ve hardly bought anything new for myself in a while.
At the top of this post, I have set up a special new word meter for the weekend, so if you want to follow along, I’ll try to update it as I go. So exciting! I love the beach and hope Andrew likes it as much as I do!

Good luck with your writing! I too love the beach and we go every summer, rent a house with the whole family, and make memories. This summer was awesome as we had many family times with the little ones-ages 3, 4, 5, and 7. So may your time be peaceful, regenerating, and creative as you continue my favorite series!
PS-My two grown up daughters and I are your best fans in Idaho!

Hey Sarra I’ve discovered your books not to long ago and just finished reading shadow demons, I can’t stop reading! I find it funny that my family and I are leaving for Myrtle beach tomorrow π I hope you had a great weekend and I am sooo excited for the new book to come out!!!
Hi Sarra! I just came across your books on Amazon. I am looking forward to starting the series. I always check out the author’s pages on Amazon (it’s a quirk) and I find it very cool you live in NC (my home state). I’m working on Book 1 of my first Trilogy…so excited. 67K words down…only my characters know how many to go. I’ll be following your progress and hopefully will get to catch up so I can read the new book when it’s released!
