Welcome, friends! It’s finally here!! The spookiest, most magical month of the year! It’s fifteen amazing years since I published my first book and became an author, and this is the month where I shower you all with gratitude as we celebrate that milestone. I’m so thrilled to welcome you to Spooktacular 2025. This entire month will be filled with fun, giveaways, livestreams, and some truly amazing surprises I cannot wait to share with you.

Whether you’ve been part of Spooktacular since the very beginning or this is your very first time joining us, get ready because this October is going to be unforgettable.

Due to popular demand, we’re bringing back the Shadow Demons Scavenger Hunt! Each day, I’ll give you a book title, chapter title, paragraph, and word number, and you have to find the corresponding word. I’ll have a total of 13 clues to share throughout the month, so keep track of them as you go!

At the end of the day on October 31st, I’ll provide a Google Form for you to fill out (I’ll post it in the Coven on Facebook and on Discord for those of you who aren’t on FB, as well as a link in the blog post for that day). You’ll have ONE WEEK to submit the form (it will be turned off on November 7th), and I will contact the winners via email.

Here is your first clue:

  • BOOK: Beautiful Demons
  • CHAPTER: Tori Has A Secret
  • 6th paragraph
  • 9th word

Tip: A Paragraph is counted any time there is a paragraph break, even if it’s just one line or one word. If it’s a break with an indention, it’s a new paragraph!

Make sure you keep track of all 13 of your answers in a fun notebook or sticky note near your phone or computer, so you can enter to win on October 31st! All participants who submit 13 answers (even if it’s not exactly right) will get an exclusive digital gift from me.

I can’t wait to see what spooky goodness awaits us this year. As for which book I’d recommend … I always tell people to start with Beautiful Demons and always with the caveat that they might also want to at least have Inner Demons and Bitter Demons on hand because they’re going to want to know more.

    1. I always tell people if I come across people asking for recommendations to read Beautiful Demons. Especially if they’ve listed other fantasy/witchy books as things they enjoy. Or otherwise if they haven’t mentioned what kinds of books they like.

  26. Love this time of year! To a new reader I would recommend reading The Disappearance of Vanessa Shaw. I love the Beautiful Demons series but for some reason TDVS sticks out. It kept me reading,guessing, and wanting more.

  42. I love spooktacular! This is my 5th year! My favourite set of books are the shadow demons. I would definitely recommend them 1st as they are what drew me in. I love Vanessa Paws! Cats are the best animals ever! I love how regal and majestic they are. My own ginger cat ‘goose’ is a huge snuggler

So I would probably figure out what type of books someone liked before making recommendations but I absolutely love Harper and Jackson’s story so would likely recommend the shadow demons saga (especially if they enjoy witchy/fantasy) but honestly I’m down for any of Sara’s books I’ve enjoyed them all most of them more than once.
