Books In Progress
Hi! Welcome to everyone who is dying for news on the latest news on my series. The past two years have been slower for my writing as I’ve been building some other cool things in the world, but I’m feeling my creative well returning, and I’m excited to be back to writing full time. As creators, sometimes there will simply be periods or phases, just like the moon, where the creative light shines and where it wanes. I’ve been in a waning period, but it feels amazing to be heading back to a full, creative life.
I will be listing all anticipated books or projects here, along with a status update. I’ll try to update this about once a week as I continue to work, and you may see stories pop up here as I decide to add them to my schedule. Some areas and stories might not be updated for months, while others will be weekly updates. I won’t announce any release dates until a book is completely finished. This is simply the best thing for my mental health and joy!
Believe me, when I’ve got a release date announcement, I’ll be sure to shout it from the rooftops! In the meantime, head here to sign up for my newsletter. That will be the very first place I announce covers and releases, plus you get to learn more about me and grab a free short story collection to read while you wait. Ready? Let’s get started with the updates. Feel free to bookmark this page so you can find it again if you want to follow my progress.
The Disappearance of Vanessa Shaw will be my next book release! This is a standalone YA paranormal mystery, and I cannot wait for you to read it. If you love movies like “I Know What You Did Last Summer” or books like “A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder” I think you’re really going to love this.
I have been through 3 rounds of edits on this book, and I am on the final round of self-edits now before I send this off to beta readers and my editor. Hopefully a release date is coming soon on this!
Stage: Drafting phase
Book 12 is anticipated to be the final book in the Shadow Demons Saga. I don’t know if I’m emotionally ready for this!
Life Update: I started working on Book 12 as soon as I completed Vengeful Darkness in 2021, but shortly after that release, my family found out that the contract on the home we’d been building for nearly a year was cancelled due to C-19 cost increases. Our rental home had already been promised to a new family, and we had nowhere to go.
We ended up selling or donating most of our belongings and going on the road for more than 6 months, moving from AirBnB to hotels, looking for a new home for our little family. In February 2022, we finally settled just outside Dallas, TX! We are so very happy here, but the life changes have meant more delays on Book 12.
While on the road, I wrote about 40,000 words of the book. Every time I sat down to work on it since then, however, it hasn’t felt ready. While I realize that can be frustrating to hear as a reader who loves this series, as an author I’m committed to telling this story the way I feel it needs to be told.
Sometimes, that means taking the time it needs to feel ready to pour from me and make its way into the world.
While I’ve been waiting for this to come together, I’ve been working on other projects. I anticipate coming back to this full-time as soon as TDOVS is completed.
Here’s hoping now that I’m going in the right direction, the book will flow quickly. It’s unpredictable, however, so I have no anticipated release date at this time.
I don’t currently know what order I’ll be working on the remaining books I have on my plate right now. I will be waiting to see how I feel once Book 12 is complete before I decide for sure what I’m working on. Below, however, you’ll find news about ongoing series.
Stage: Not Yet In Progress
I can’t wait to get back to Uncle Martin and this particular story world. There are good things coming with this one, so thanks for being patient.
If you’re new to this series, catch up by watching The Witch’s Key on YouTube (click the timestamp in the pinned comment to skip the chat and go straight to the readings) or purchase and read it now.
If you haven’t seen the news yet, I have decided not to continue on with this as a series. There are multiple reasons behind this that I won’t go into again here, but I feel pretty strongly that this book should have been a standalone right from the beginning.
My plan at this point is to alter the first book to make it better stand on its own, rather than being a lead-in to a fresh series. I understand this may be disappointing for readers who have loved Mariyah and wanted to read more of her story, but this is the decision that is best for me at this time. Thank you for respecting that!
I hope to do the rewrites at some point in 2024 or after I finish Book 12
This is intended to be the final book in the Eternal Sorrows series. I have decided on a title for this book, and I even have a cover ready to go, but I won’t be revealing that news until I’m closer to writing the draft of this book. My hope is to begin this book after Book 12 of the SDS, so there’s a slight possibility for a 2024 timeline on this one, if all goes well.
