Wrapping up My Rough Draft

This is hopefully the week I finish the rough draft for DEMONS FOREVER! I set my goal at 60,000 words even though I know the final book is going to end up more like 80,000. Of course, what I write in the rough draft is more like my version of exploring what might happen in the story. It’s a way for me to play around with different ideas and see what works. Then, when I finish the rough draft, I take some time to let it all marinate before I start over completely with the second draft of the book.

I’m both excited and terrified about getting so close to the end of the series. I have been writing for years, but this will be the first time I’ve written an entire series of six books. I have mixed emotions about writing THE END on the final chapter of Harper’s story.

Still, getting messages from those of you who love the series keeps me going. I can’t even tell you just how much it means to me to see those messages of encouragement that you send to me on Facebook or through my contact form or on Twitter. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

So when I finish the rough draft, I’ll be doing a cover reveal of the 6th and final cover in the series, yay!! I really love this last cover, and I hope you will too. I am planning to do an ebook bundle giveaway (of other Indie books, not mine since most of you have already read mine, haha) to celebrate the cover reveal next week, so I hope you’ll check back and enter!

I’m still debating about whether or not I want to announce an official release date. With this pregnancy, life is a bit unpredictable (to say the least) and I would hate to get a date set in stone only to miss it due to pregnancy complications. I haven’t decided what to do yet. I don’t want anyone throwing virtual tomatoes at me for pushing back my release date! I will let you know next week for sure what I decide. I might just hold off on an official date until I get close to finishing the second draft and things are more solid. What are your thoughts?

  1. I’d love to have an idea of the date. I completely understand the hesitation though.

    1. Thanks Courtni, and what a super cool way to spell your name! I love it! I will hopefully be able to give a rough idea of when to expect the book, I’m just hesitant to give an exact date.

    1. Yay! Thanks Debbie! So excited you liked the series so far! Thanks for commenting!

  2. I’m pregnant with baby #2 so I understand. I just love your books, I read them all in like 2 days! Can’t wait to hear about the next witch and zombie series too.
