My Favorite Scene in Inner Demons, Free Wallpaper, and A Giveaway

Okay, so there are several scenes in Inner Demons that I really love.

One of them is the scene where Lark teaches Harper how to use a glamour.

“How did you do that?”

“It’s called a glamour,” she said. “A staple of every respectable witch.”

And later in the scene, it’s so fun to think back to how excited Harper was to be learning magic like this and finally starting to control the powers she’d always had.

I felt giddy with joy and power and this amazing new connection to the world around me.

She’s been through so much since then, it’s sometimes hard to believe how something so simple was so new to her once upon a time.

My Favorite Scene

Of course, I also love the scene where Brooke is inducted into the Order of Shadows. It’s so creepy, and I remember when I first wrote it, I was terrified people would think I was seriously demented :P. When I first started writing this series, though, I didn’t know anything about the Order, really. I was figuring it out as I went along in the beginning, so it was just as much of a surprise to me when it came out of me as it was to Brooke. (probably…. maybe…)

I also still love that final scene between Jackson and Harper, but to me, nothing compares to my favorite scene. Even after all these years, I still think back on it sometimes and smile. There’s just something fun about watching two characters who will go so far together as they first get to know each other and explore the way they feel about one another.

So, want to know which scene and hear me read it? Watch today’s video!

Download Your Inner Demons Wallpapers

I promised you guys that I’d be slowly working my way through the Shadow Demons covers and offering you some free downloads! Well, today I have posted Inner Demons wallpapers for you to download free! They are sized for phones, tablets, and desktop computers. Feel free to grab them all and share them with friends.

Cover art, as with all Demons books, is done by the incredibly talented Ravven.

Instructions:

  1. There are 3 different sizes of wallpaper, each tailored to fit phones, tablets, or desktop (and laptop) computer resolutions.
  2. First, click on the image below or the link beneath it to open the full resolution file.
  3. Right click the image and “Save Image As” to save it to your PC. On a Mac desktop, you simply hold down your mouse on the image and drag it into a folder or your desktop to save the image. On many phones, you press down with one finger and an option will come up to save the image. If none of these work, take a screenshot of your phone and use that image!
  4. Apply the new image as your background or wallpaper! If you’re unsure how to do this, simply google “How Do I set a Photo As my Background on a XXX” and put your device in where the X’s are.

NOTE: If you are having trouble getting these to download on your phone, there are a couple of options. One is to try using a different browser! If you have chrome on your phone, try that instead! Or download it free from the app store. Another option is to click the image so it takes up the entire screen and then take a screenshot. This should also work! If you just simply cannot get it to work, email me and I’ll send it to you directly! (sarra@sarracannon.com)

Deceiving Darkness Update

In case you haven’t heard, I am currently working on Book 10 of the Shadow Demons Saga: Deceiving Darkness. I am just barely into it as far as the writing, so an August release date is not going to happen. I am keeping my fingers crossed for a September release, though, so please keep an eye out for the cover reveal and release date announcement!

The cover for this book is my favorite of the whole series so far, and I just know you are going to love it!

I did a live video chat on Facebook about a week ago discussing updates on how things are going, how many more books are coming in the series, AND an exciting potential spin-off that might be coming soon! (I actually read the prologue of a book I worked on last year that just won’t leave me alone! Check out the replay of the video here.)

If you love the Shadow Demons Saga and are excited for the next books, the very best ways you can support me are:

  1. Be active here on my site, social media (like my Facebook group and my new YouTube channel)
  2. Leave reviews for my books wherever you purchased them and on Goodreads
  3. Tell your friends about the books! They can always get into the series totally free with those first 3 books, so the more you spread the word, the more it helps support me as an author!

Thanks, everyone! I <3 you guys, and I appreciate you all!

Sorrow’s Gift

OHHHH!!! And before I go, I wanted to give a quick update on my Wattpad project. A few months ago, I decided to start posting chapters of Death’s Awakening (Eternal Sorrows, Book 1) up on Wattpad.

If you aren’t familiar with it, Wattpad is a site where anyone can post their stories, chapter by chapter, and people can read them for free. Most of the books or stories are posted one chapter at a time, and there’s literally everything you can imagine from fan fiction to books that have now gotten big movie deals! It’s a fun place to read and hang out, and I love that you can comment on the stories as you read!

Anyway, my Eternal Sorrows series has a dear place in my heart, but in terms of popularity and readership, it’s just never really taken off. Mostly, it’s my fault from putting 3 years in between each book, but these are very emotionally and mentally draining books for me with 8 points of view! A real challenge, but I do love these characters and this story!

Knowing that the final book in the trilogy was coming up to be released this Halloween, I thought I would put Death’s Awakening up on Wattpad a chapter at a time to see if I could get a few more people reading it and commenting along! Well, the book has done really well over there and gotten almost 10,000 reads! The final chapter went up on Friday, and I had so many people asking for Book 2 that I have decided to post it for a limited time!

Death’s Awakening is completed over on Wattpad if you’d like to read it for free! You can get the app from any app store or just read it on the web.

Sorrow’s Gift, Book 2 in the series, is being posted daily. Every single day until October, a new chapter will go up! I won’t be leaving the book up forever, but as this is normally a $4 ebook, this is a great chance for you to read along with it for free! I’ll leave it up until Halloween, and then it will only be available for purchase after that.

If you want to read with me, comment, vote, and hang out on Wattpad, come join us! You can find the books here:

Thanks, and I hope you enjoy it!!! So excited for the final book to come out!

That’s all I have for now. Thanks for reading, and don’t forget to grab your free digital wallpapers, yay!

  1. Hi Sarra,

I just wanted to say that I love the Etenral Sorrows series, and am so surprised to hear it had not proved as popular as some of your other series.

When I read the first book I hadn’t realised it was part of a series, but thought it was a stand-alone book. I raced through it, and read the second book as soon as it came out!

I am so excited to read the third instalment when it is done -I never thought about how much harder this series must be to write with all the different viewpoints, but I think you give each character their individual ‘voice’ really well.

I am currently on vacation, catching up with the latest Shadow Demons book -I love Harper and Jackson, and always look forward to seeing where their story will take them next.

So glad you’re enjoying writing again, and have got your groove back!

  2. OMG!!! It feels so good to read the previous books again. Like you said in the video, Harper’s journey has grown so much since the first book. There are many scenes in the inner demons book that I love. But overall, my top two scenes are the scene that you read in the video and the end scene- “A hot tear rolled down my cheek. “I thought we were going to die,” I said. “I was pretty stupid, huh? Going in there all by myself, thinking I could save your life.”
Jackson ran his thumb along the side of my face, wiping away the stray tear. “You did save my life,” he said.
I closed my eyes and let the events of the past twenty-four hours rush over me. I ran my fingertips along the smooth surface of my pendant.
“Are you really a demon?” I whispered.
Jackson sighed and gently kissed my hand. “It’s a long story.”
I opened my eyes and motioned to the hospital room around us.
    “I’ve got nothing but time.”
