My Book & Life Updates
My daughter, Nynaeve Elizabeth Bittmann (we call her “Evie”) was born September 2nd, and we are just so in love with her! Life with a new baby is quite the adjustment, as you can imagine, but we are all doing really well.
After several years of struggle and loss to get to this point, I am honestly just trying to soak up every beautiful moment. Babies are only tiny for a short time, so I am making the most of it.
Other than life with a new baby, I have been dying to update you all on what’s going on with my writing life.
Grab a cup of coffee (or that pumpkin spice cold brew everyone’s talking about) and come hang out with me for a few minutes as we talk books!
Book Updates:
Thankfully, I’m finally getting back into the swing of writing! I honestly tried my best to write during my pregnancy, but all I managed was to write one short story, half of “Fate’s Surrender”, and, in an effort to crush my writer’s block, half of a book titled “The Disappearance of Vanessa Shaw”.
My creative brain just wasn’t cooperating. I think all of my creative energy was going into creating a human, haha. I tried, though, I really did.
I know all of you are waiting for the next book in the Shadow Demons Saga (some of you more patiently than others :P), so I wanted to write with an update on when I hope to have it ready.
First, let me say how much I appreciate your support over this past year since the release of Book 10 – Deceiving Darkness. No one hates a break in my releases and productivity more than I do, believe me. But sometimes, there are other priorities in life, and I just have to find a way to honor the season I’m in.
I am sorry for the delay, but I honestly wouldn’t trade my sweet Evie for the world!
That being said, I’m finally writing again, and I’m excited for what’s coming up.
Fate’s Surrender
Knowing there was no way for me to write, edit, and publish Book 11 of the Shadow Demons Saga before some of the retailers close to publishing for the holidays, I have decided to turn my focus to finishing up the final book of the Eternal Sorrows series.
I am just over half-way done on Fate’s Surrender, and I am going to do everything in my power to have it published before the end of the year!
I will email with a cover reveal and release announcement as soon as the book is finished.
Vengeful Darkness
With only two books remaining in the Shadow Demons Saga, this is the book everyone is sending the most questions about! I have been making lots of notes on what will happen in these final two books, so I’ve been working on it as often as possible.
I will begin the first draft of Book 11 – Vengeful Darkness – as soon as Fate’s Surrender is complete. I am so excited about what’s coming up in this book, and I hope you are, too!
I can’t make any guarantees about release dates with a little one at home, but I will tell you that I’m tentatively aiming for a late January 2020 release for this book.
Deep Dark Whispers
The third and final incomplete series of mine is The Spiritwalkers Trilogy. Book One, Deep Dark Secrets, was a book I wrote a few years ago to help get out of a severe case of writer’s block, and I just haven’t had time to go back and finish it.
My plan right now is to write the last two books in this trilogy just after Vengeful Darkness is done. If all goes well, that will mean the release of both Deep Dark Whispers and Deep Dark Promises in early 2020, possibly around March and May.
Again, don’t hold me to that, but I will post updates as often as I can on social media, so be sure to follow me on Instagram or Facebook.

So, that’s the gist of the updates and what’s coming next from me. I had originally planned to write Books 11 and 12 of the Shadow Demons Saga back to back, but there are a few reasons why I’ve decided to finish The Spiritwalkers series in between, instead.
First, I’m going to need more time to write that final book in the series. I’ve been writing the Shadow Demons books for nearly a decade. There are over a million words in this series, and I want to make sure I get this ending right.
I’ve worked too hard to rush it now.
Writing Spiritwalkers between the final two books will give me extra time to let my imagination work and to plot out the best ending to the series. (I already know a lot of what will happen, but there are always surprises, even for me!)
Second, I make a lot of decisions based on my intuition and what feels right. For me, I just really feel like ending the Shadow Demons Saga and still having another incomplete series out there is not the right thing to do.
I want to wrap everything up before I write the final book so that there is nothing else taking up story space in my brain. I want to be able to give that final book my all.
Which brings me to a fun event I’ll be running with you before the final book comes out next year.
The Shadow Demons Saga Read Along
I’ve talked about this already on social media, but I have been trying to find the perfect time to read through the entire series again as a group.
It just makes sense to do it as a lead-up to that final book. That way, we can all reread the series together, discuss our favorite scenes, talk about what we think will happen at the end, and just generally reminisce about what we loved along the way.
I’ll have a ton more details next year before we begin, but this will be a full, 14-week event with us reading a book each week, including the Sacrifice Me Seasons and side books like A Demon’s Wrath and After Midnight.
Each week will feature behind-the-scenes posts from me, exclusive giveaways, discussions in my Facebook group, and a weekly Facebook Live Video Chat to talk about that week’s featured book. Kind of like an online book club with giveaways!
I don’t have specific dates for this yet, but we will start this big event a few months before the final Demons book comes out, so that when we’re finished reading Book 11 as a group, the final book will be either already released or up for preorder.
More news coming after the release of Vengeful Darkness.
A Heartfelt Thank You
That’s all the major news for now, but as I close out this email update, I just wanted to say a truly heartfelt thank you to all of you.
I know it isn’t easy waiting for books when there are cliffhangers or unanswered questions. It isn’t easy for me to not be writing as much as I want, either.
The love and support I’ve gotten from my community of loyal fans continues to bless and honor me. I cannot even express to you how much it means to me when you share words of encouragement and support.
I truly appreciate each and every one of you, and I hope these updates are just as exciting for you as they are for me.

Oh! And one final piece of news! I’ll also be posting writing vlogs over on my YouTube channel coming up. I’ve been wanting to post more videos of my writing process over there for a long time, and I’m so excited to be starting up soon.
