The Muse Always Wins – Fate’s Surrender Update

Well, this is definitely not the update I wanted to post. This was me at 5 AM earlier this week, lying on the floor with tears in my eyes after literally weeks of working around the clock to get Fate’s Surrender ready for the preorder deadline. 👇👇👇👇

To meet the preorder deadline to release the book on Friday, December 4th, I had to upload the book to all of the retailers by 7PM Monday evening. If you’ve been watching any of my daily vlogs, you know I’ve been working a ridiculous amount of hours to make this the book I want and know it can be.

Could I have uploaded something by the deadline then?

Yes. I could have slapped a decent ending on it, fixed up the rough draft a little, and gotten it out there for the sake of saying it was done and moving on.

Would I have been proud, knowing I had written the book I knew in my heart I needed it to be?

Absolutely not.

And in the end, I’d rather publish a book late and suffer the real consequences of a missed Preorder than publish a book I’m not proud of.

I’ve been working on this story for too long to let it end like that.

So, I’ve picked myself off the floor and decided, once again, to push my deadline back. The new release date is January 15th, 2021.

Here’s what that means for those of you who have preordered the book:

All Amazon Preorders have been cancelled by Amazon. You will not be charged, and I will not be allowed to set up a new preorder for thisΒ book. Instead, I will publish it directly on January 15th.Everywhere else, I was able to simply push the release date back. If you preordered, you don’t have to do anything special. Just wait a little longer!

This has been one hell of a year, and despite pouring my heart and soul into finishing this book, sacrificing time away from my family and many hours of sleep, sometimes the creative process takes longer than expected. I know some of you will be very disappointed, but I hope you can find it in your heart to understand that I cannot publish a book that isn’t ready.

I hope that when you do get your hands on it in January, you will get to the final page and say, “Wow, okay that was worth the wait” and feel it in your soul. That, to me, is more important than making money or pushing out a mediocre book just to get it done.

A deadline is just a moment in time, but a book, once completed, is forever. I owe this story – and you – my very best.

And one more twist??I am pretty sure at this point that the reason this book simply would not come together is that this series cannot end in just one book. More news soon as I work toward finishing it after vacation.

But stay tuned. Potentially books 3 and 4 coming in 2021.

As my husband, George, always says. THE MUSE ALWAYS WINS. He’s so right. I did my best, y’all.

Thank you for understanding. Love and gratitude to all of you for being so awesome and supportive during this time of creative struggle.

Thank you.

  1. I don’t know about others and their expectations, but for me, I’d rather read your book knowing that you feel it’s the best it can be. It shows in the end.
Don’t bash yourself and don’t let other’s derogatory comments effect you!
You are a fabulous writer and I enjoy your work.

    1. I have to agree with Bev completely! All of your books are worth waiting a bit longer. So certain this one is too. No worries I realize my teenager is more your market audience. But this mom is well on her way to reading every book in every series you have written. Your books clearly fit with the saying good things come to those that wait.

  2. Hi Sarra! I am very patiently waiting for your book and I just want you to know that your real fans won’t be upset with you pushing the deadline because we know how much effort and love you put and it shows in your work. For the haters, don’t let them bother you because it’s their work to hate.

  3. I stopped going on Facebook and a lot of other sites because of the need for a break and I just realized today that I had ordered book #11 of the demon saga but haven’t gotten it yet and I started freaking out but now knowing you have been over working yourself I feel bad about panicking. I hope you and your family are well and please don’t beat yourself up for a late deadline. None of us true fans mind waiting because of how amazing of an author you are. Keep up the amazing work but remember to take care of yourself in the process. We love you!

  4. Sarra, I for one don’t mind waiting for your books because I have never been disappointed. You pour your heart and soul into these books and they are always worth the wait. Do not let others make you feel bad for pushing a deadline. You are always so thoughtful to your readers and I know how hard you work to make your stories the best they can be. Take care of yourself and don’t let anyone make you feel down, you are a queen!!
