“BREADCRUMBS” (& a free ebook) Day 2| Spooktacular 2022

Day 2, and I have a few fun giveaways and events for today.

First, I’ll be reading my latest short story, “Breadcrumbs” today at Noon EST over on YouTube. This will be a YouTube Premiere, meaning that right around Noon, the video will play and we’ll get a chance to chat live in the comments together.

I’m excited to hang out with you there! I also really love this story. It’s based off of Hansel and Gretel, and of course, the minute I wrote it, I got so many ideas for how much I’d love to turn this into a novel, haha. For now, that will have to wait, but I hope you enjoy the short story.

Today’s Giveaway

Today, the giveaway is open to everyone! I’m giving away a free ebook copy of my book, The Witch’s Key.

You may not know that I never intended to write a full novel, much less a series, when I started The Witch’s Key.

Back in early 2020, when the pandemic and shut downs became real, I wanted to do something to help ease anxiety and build community online. That’s when I got the idea to write a novella and read it aloud on YouTube every day as I was writing it.

I brainstormed a fun story that had been in my head for a while and got to work. I started ready the novel during special livestreams daily, thinking maybe it would be about 20,000 words by the time I was finished. Wow, was I wrong!

As happens to me way too often, I fell in love with Lenora (“Lenny”) Thorne and her Uncle Martin. The story flowed from me! Every day, I would push the stroller (with an adorable little six month old Evie) and George, Andrew, and I would chat about what might happen next. Then, in the evenings, I would write a chapter of the book, only to get up, edit it, and read it on YouTube the next day.

By the time I was finished, the book was about 85,000 words, and it was hands down one of the most fun, meaningful experiences of my life with my fans.

Once it was finished, I needed to get back to work on Eternal Sorrows 3 and Shadow Demons Book 11, but my heart still longs to tell the rest of Lenny’s story. Here’s hoping my next books come quickly from here on out so I can write Book 2, The Witch’s Door, in 2023!
