Set of Sacrifice Me Paperbacks

SCAVENGER HUNT CLUE #2

Due to popular demand, we’re bringing back the Shadow Demons Scavenger Hunt! Each day, I’ll give you a book title, chapter title, paragraph, and word number, and you have to find the corresponding word.

This year, the words will spell out a clue about an exciting thing coming in 2027. The sentence will appear in order this year.

At the end of the day on October 31st, I’ll provide a Google Form for you to fill out (I’ll post it in the Coven on Facebook and on Discord for those of you who aren’t on FB, as well as a link in the blog post for that day). You’ll have ONE WEEK to submit the form (it will be turned off on November 7th), and I will contact the winners via email by November 15th.

Here is your clue:

  • Clue 2
  • BOOK: A Demon’s Wrath
  • CHAPTER: Born of Love
  • 3rd paragraph
  • 7th word

Tip: A Paragraph is counted any time there is a paragraph break, even if it’s just one line or one word. If it’s a break with an indention, it’s a new paragraph!

Make sure you keep track of all 13 of your answers in a fun notebook or sticky note near your phone or computer, so you can enter to win on October 31st! All participants who submit 13 answers (even if it’s not exactly right) will get an exclusive digital gift from me.

GOOD LUCK!

  1. I love my physical copy of my books bc I can always go back to them at any time and I love to be able to do that. If I suddenly want to pick one up and read it I can. Plus the feeling of actually flipping a page never gets old!

    1. Companies are moving towards a rental type situation, where you can buy the electronic copy and it can disappear at any time. I prefer to own the physical book, and be able to use it even if the electricity and the internet is down. 🙂

  2. Thank you, Sarra, for everything you do for us. Looking forward to see what you’ve planned for the Spooktacular this year!

  3. Growing i hated reading but I love it now and have for a long time. I just needed to find something that I was it interested in and I had to keep searching for things that were not your normal every day book. Which is how I found the SDS yesrs ago. So for me to have the physical book knowing I read and finished It is a big deal for me.

  4. I love the feel of physical books. Just flipping through pages and running my fingers over the spines on my shelf. Love it!

  5. I love collecting physical copies of books because I don’t have to worry about losing them. I also love the way a full bookshelf looks!

Also loving the return of the Shadow Demons scavenger hunt!

  6. My favorite thing about physical books is the smell and the feeling it gives me. When you’re using a device to read a book, it’s very impersonal, almost cold, in its experience. There’s just something missing. When it comes to sitting down and reading a physical book, it’s an entire experience: the smell, the touch, the feel. It’s something that cannot be replicated with devices.

  7. It’s a cold rainy day here in Virginia. The perfect day to curl up under a blanket, make a hot latte, and disappear into a good book!

  8. I love getting comfortable with a blanket, coffee, and a physical book. Also getting them in the mail is so exciting and then adding to a book shelf. I love being able to read them over and over again.

  9. I missed the live of the premiere, but I just caught it on replay. Your energy absolutely transformed in the video as you took your steps to tend to yourself. Thanks for sharing your rituals with us. (Oh, and yeah, *fingers crossed on the giveaway.* Hehe. Physical books are amazing.)

  10. Even though the weather is still hanging onto summer where I am, Spooktacular grounds me in Fall, Halloween, and October.

  11. Missed the live again today, I live in The Dalles, OR and had to go with a family member to Portland, OR for an appointment. But I am going to do my best to be at the events tomorrrow (Sunday), it will be fun! I am going to watch the replay now. Thank you for the Book Tracker yewsterday and the Word Scramble today, I am having fun with all of this, this is my fave time of year and Spooktacular is my Fave event!!!

  12. I love holding a physical copy of a book and turning the pages. Feels like yiu are progressing more in the story when you can see how much you have read.

  13. I don’t know how to pick a favourite thing about collecting physical books. But if I had to pick one I have to go with how much I love how they cozy up my home. Whether they’re on their shelf or scattered around in the house in various stages of being read by the people who live here, physical books just have a quiet way of making home feel like home.

  14. My favorite thing about physical books is that they are signed by the lovely Sarra!!! which makes them super special 🙂

  15. Honestly, my favourite thing about physical books is that it’s way easier and faster to flip through them when trying to find a specific scene 😀

  16. I’ve always loved the smell of physical books and I think it’s more satisfying to see them on the shelves. The added benefit to physical media is that it’s yours. No one can delete it from your device or change it after the fact. Ebooks are wonderful for convenience but I don’t rely on them for my favorite stories. Just in case. (Thought I do often get my favorites in multiple formats!)

  17. I love being able to pull it off the shelf and look up any scene anytime I want. I tend to only keep books I know I’ll reread

  18. I love physical books because I love to see the book covers. I use my Kindle more because it is easier to use but I have a big bookcase full of books.

  19. Just looking at my beautiful physical books on my shelves makes me so happy. I know I will never read them all (I have a home library of 5000+ books), but just knowing all the possibilities are there is a comfort. As John Waters says, ‘Collect books, even if you don’t plan on reading them right away. Nothing is more important than an unread library.’

  20. Physical books…. books you can clutch to your chest like a security blanket of words and phrases, of peoples & worlds that are held so dear. The smell of them, the crisp sound of the turning page. All of this and more – from the time I could grip a book in my little hands. But for today… today, they are my trophies. My tangible souvenirs of my favorite places. I grab books in any form or format- any story- and greedily gobble them all up. Only the few adorn my shelves in printed form, but all are loved in one form or another. But those on my shelves today are my special friends.

  21. I think for me my favourite part of collecting physical books is being able to see and touch them. And also if have doubles of books getting to see the differences in covers and stuff.

  22. Physical books mean I don’t have to worry about wifi or battery. Plus some books I do like to mark up and annotate as I study them. It’s easier to go back through my notations in a physical copy than a digital one.
